Fellow music lovers… If you’re into anything funky sounding, you’re going to love the local favorite we are going to talk about today. Metafonics, a four-piece eclectic group from Denver, CO has been spitting out some groovy distinct flavors of music ranging from jazzy fusion rock, electronic music, and smooth hip-hop since January 2015. The band quickly gained popularity with their quirky wide range of sounds and has had the opportunity to share the stage with other funky artists like Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, Jaden Carlson, and Greener Grounds.

The band has relationships with each other stemming back to high school in Aurora. Mitch (keys) and Keegan (bass) met each other in high school, but didn’t start playing with each other till about 2013. Drew (guitar) also grew up in Aurora around Mitch and started playing music with Keegan and Mitch in 2013 as well. The band Metafonics was started in a bedroom in a small apartment as a hip hop project, but quickly morphed into an eclectic genre blending project. Dominique joined the band in 2014, and influenced the bands sound with electronic influences with a unique hard hitting drumming style. They like to describe themselves as “brothers from other mothers”.

New Music Is Coming And We’re Stoked About It!

The band is set to release their first full length self titled album, Metafonics, on July 28, 2017. Each song on the new album will feed your earbuds with a distinct flavor blending the sounds of funk, R&B, hip-hop, progressive rock & experimental soundscapes. We’re pretty excited about it, which is why we felt the need to give these guys a big shout out on our site.

The new album was recorded at Beyond The Infinite Multimedia in Lakewood, CO and was engineered, mixed, and produced by members of the band. Brent Somermeyer and Matt Tanner at Catadawn Studios in Denver, CO mastered the album. An album release party will be held on July, 28th at “Your Mom’s House”, an intimate venue that opened this year in the Cap Hill neighborhood in the heart of Denver. Make sure to look out for it on Pandora, Spotify, Soundcloud, iTunes, & more.
